For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. Hebrews 2:10

The first commandment that God gave to the living things He created (both animal and vegetable) was, in short, 'be fruitful and multiply'. God's desire is that the things He has made should reproduce and become plentiful. So, too, should the spiritual children He has brought to birth through Christ be plentiful. Revival is that spurring on of the hearts of God's people to bring forth more after their own kind. Jesus said of Himself that 'unless a seed falleth into the ground and dieth' it cannot take part in the reproductive work of God's power. Jesus is the perfect and altogether righteous Seed that fell and died and brought forth much fruit. Let this fruit, brought to life by Christ, remain and abide in the Vine and so be found productive. The empty tomb of Jesus' burial is the hull of the precious Seed. Let us look to that discarded hull and remember that the work of bringing many sons to glory begins with the death of self-will and the abandonment of the heart to God's holy will. May we always be ready to fall into the ground and take our part in God's creative process.
